Adjacent Satellite Interference Analysis

The telecommunications regulatory community recognizes adjacent satellite intference as a serious problem.

Historically, very simple models have been used to estimate levels of interference to be expected when two satellite systems are operated in close proximity to one another.

However, when actual adjacent satellite interference occurs, the potential damage to revenue streams becomes very real, and finding the source of the interference can be extremely difficult.

The modeling approach taken in AuraGateway is rigorous enough for both groups, and is anticipated to be of most benefit in tracking down actual interference sources. The reason is the ability to simulate.

In effect, if Company X has a satellite network that you believe may be interfering with your system, the adjacent satellite modeling capabilities of AuraGateway are sufficient to allow you to model specific earth station locations, specific antenna models at each of the earth station, and operation of the satellite and transponder actually used by the other network.

With reasonable assumptions about the transmit power levels utilized by the adjacent network, you can establish whether or not they could be generating the interference that your system is experiencing.
