Adding an earth station to a network in AuraGateway can be as simple as specifying a location. The program will apply an earth station template and insert a fully expanded earth station at that location. The user then edits parameters such as antenna size, amplifier temperature, etc. Effectively, this allows the user to specify as much information as he/she has, and use default values for everything else.

For the more experienced user, the program accepts a comma separate variable (CSV) file input where the entire specification for over 30,000 earth stations can be prepared in a spreadsheet, exported into the CSV format, and imported directly into AuraGateway.

As an integral quality measure, the user is encouraged to utilize the KML mapping capabilities of AuraGateway in order to get visual feedback on earth station placements in Google Earth, NASA World Wind or other GIS program that accepts KML files.
